Top 3 Bing Searches for 2010 Kim Kardashian, Sandra Bullock and Tiger Woods

Kim Kardashian must be doing something right, because she’s not only the most popular overall 2010 search on Bing, but also the most popular person searched this year, as per the statistics released by Microsoft. According to the Redmond company, 2010’s most searched topics are indicative of a shift in user interest, which have apparently developed an increasing taste in celebrity news.

And the leading lady of the popular Keeping Up with the Kardashians reality show has ended up dominating both the “Most popular overall 2010 searches on Bing” and the “Most popular people searched in 2010 on Bing.”

“As 2010 comes to a close, it’s time to reflect on the year’s most popular search trends. While topical items like Swine Flu and Stock Market topped the list in 2009, this year rankings reflect the popularity of celebrity news,” the software giant stated.

In fact, Kim Kardashian managed to surpass a range of other topics as well as other celebrities to grab the number one spot.

The troubles in their personal lives have pushed Sandra Bullock and Tiger Woods to the number 2 and 3 positions in terms of Bing searches this past year. Lady Gaga occupies only the fourth place followed by US president Barack Obama.

“This year’s most searched for topic was Kim Kardashian which received 20% more searches than the second most popular term: Sandra Bullock. 2009’s top searched term, Michael Jackson dropped to the number 11 position for most popular people,” Microsoft added.

“The only item repeating their appearance in the top ten was Kate Gosselin (last year’s #8) – although this year she appeared alone – minus Jon. Also, the tough economy is apparent with discount retailer Walmart and the topic “free” appearing in the top 10.”
