As the year is drawing to an end, movie-lovers already sick of charts and lists telling them which were the best and worst productions of 2009 can turn to CoEd Magazine for a look at the most anticipated films of 2010. As the mag also points out, most of the films that have generated massive interest this year and are scheduled for a release in 2010 are remakes – but that’s not to say anticipation is not building up for them as well.

In the top 20 list, we find installments of huge franchises like “Iron Man 2” and “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” but also remakes of oldies that have somehow failed to cause a stir, save with diehard fans, like “The A-Team” and “Robocop” film, with the latter not even having a cast attached or plot made public. Still, that’s not to say they’re not anticipated projects, CoEd says.

“It’s an accepted fact that Hollywood has run out of ideas and is just coasting on remakes and sequels, so while putting together this list, we tried to come up with as many totally original movies as we could. In the end, we’ve got four sequels, three of which are based on books; four additional non-sequels based on books; three movies based on TV shows; and one based on a well-known legend. That left only six original movies. Oh well,” the mag writes.

Because the purpose was to make a top 20 list, Seth Rogen’s “The Green Hornet,” the reboot for “Nightmare on Elm Street,” and remakes “Clash of the Titans” and “Death at a Funeral” had to be left out because the array of choices was too wide, CoEd goes on to say. The final list kicks off with David Fincher’s “Black Hole,” continues with Sylvester Stallone star- and action-packed “The Expendables,” Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” and Ridley Scott’s “Robin Hood.”

The top three positions go “The Rum Diary” with Johnny Depp and Aaron Eckhart as leads, Christopher Nolan’s “Inception,” which is already generating talk of being next year’s biggest surprise and, at number one, “Arrested Development.” For more on this and the movies that have made it into the top 20 of most anticipated films of the coming year, please see here.
