Google is by far the most appreciated mobile web company in the US and it is now clear that in the UK too. This comes as a result of the M:Metrics study, which has revealed which are the most popular companies in the UK among mobile phone users.

M:Metrics has conducted the study based on the habits of smartphone users. For this, they have taken into account 500 people in the US and 600 cellular users in the UK and also made a comparison between the two markets.

Almost two thirds of people living in the US consider Google to be the leading company in their preferences of mobile service providers. The same goes for the British people, only at a lower scale of one third from all cellular users.

Similarities between the US and the UK market stop here, as few other companies manage to be present in both tops. Mobile search engines seem to be more appreciated by Americans, as Yahoo! is a long step behind Google, on the second place, with a third from all answers. On the other hand, only 10 percent of British people use services coming from this company on a regular basis.

The UK top places Orange Personal Communications Services Limited on the second place, with more than 20 percent and BBC just a small step behind. All following companies have managed to reach low percentages and they include Microsoft Corporation, Vodafone Group, eBay and O2.

More than one third of smartphone owners use the Web on a daily basis. Most of the information that they seek to receive is based on news and business solutions. Understanding their behavior when it comes to choosing one company over another for using their services is especially important now that they are the main source of profit for mobile operators and content operators.
