It's been a long year and it's almost gone so it's high time we took a look behind and analyzed the best and most famous games of the year. There were huge FPS titles, gigantic RPGs and blockbusters that ruined our summer holiday and social life. You must have got stuck while playing Final Fantasy XII or Halo 3 and we've offered you salvation through a proper list of codes, hints, cheats and God knows what other tricks, held up our sleeves. Now it's time to check out who's the top of our list, our own top 10 of the cheats you wanted the most!
*Note: The top of the cheats was decided by arranging the games in the order of views per title.
1. Guitar Hero 2 (II) (PS2, Xbox 360)
Guitar Hero II, the sequel to the critically-acclaimed Guitar Hero, features a brand new and expanded track list of over 60 songs, along with more rock venues, characters, guitars, and play modes. Guitar Hero II also introduces an innovative co-op mode that will encourage a greater rock band experience by providing the ability to
either play the lead, and bass or rhythm guitar tracks.
Veteran music videogame developer Harmonix Music Systems has been busy in-studio, enriching this rockstar experience with more features and multiplayer modes. In addition to the traditional head-to-head competition, Multiplayer Co-op Mode allows players to collaborate in order to beat songs, with each guitarist playing a separate guitar track. Available guitar tracks include lead, rhythm or bass tracks, depending upon the song. The Guitar Hero SG Controller used in the first installment will also be compatible with the new game. Here's a selection of the cheats you've been searching for and the game's review.
2. Pokemon Diamond (Nintendo DS)
In the Sinnoh region, there are two Pokemon that symbolize the region. They appear in the Sinnoh reigon's myths and old folklore. One is called Dialga, and is said to have the power to control time. The other is called Palkia, who is said to have the ability to distort space. The sinister organization called Team Galaxy is trying to rule the region by utilizing these two Pokemon's power. During your adventure to complete your Pokedex and become the Champion, these two Pokemon, and Team Galaxy, will intertwine into the story and lead you on a fantastic journey across the Sinnoh region.
Here are the codes that you've been searching for all year long.
3. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl (PC)
The concept of STALKER is not entirely new but takes it to the next level. This kind of open space has only been done at this scale only in Far Cry, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion and Gothic 3. Thei single difference and maybe its biggest flaw is that this huge area is divided into several territories and requires a moderate loading time to pass from one to another and most missions will require it.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl brings to life the actual Chernobyl terrain in the year 2012 - six years after a mysterious second explosion rocks the landscape. As a "stalker" exploring the vast "Exclusion Zone" to procure artifacts for the black market, players must survive mutant creatures, dangerous anomalous areas, competing "stalkers" and a military charged with quarantining the 30 square kilometer area. We've got a review you can check out right here and a selection of cheats here and its great review here.
4. Mario Forever (PC)
Things certainly look better than they did on the first Nintendo title and so does the gameplay. There's a lot less sliding on the platforms than the 2.0 version and I'm really thankful for that, because slipping on those blocks can become really frustrating. You won't be satisfied with the good old story mode and maybe you'd like to try the Mario Minix game. Although it sounds like some candy bar's name, this mode features a one-on-many combat between our favorite plumber and all the critters in the game. Check out the game's walkthrough right here.
5. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 (PS2)
Pro Evolution Soccer 6 also has a number of new teams licensed for inclusion, with the International roster now featuring the official kits for Argentina, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Sweden. Details on official club teams and more national squads will follow. Other new additions include more balanced referees, and a selection of exciting new gameplay modes. An International Challenge involves leading your home country to victory through a series of entry and tournament rounds, while a Random mode lets the player play quick games within randomly-generated match day settings.
The much-loved Master League also returns, allowing players to experience the many highs and lows of steering a team through years of competitive games. Aging players, injuries and pressure from the board all combine to create a truly immersive game where results are everything... Here's the review of the game and a couple of useful cheats.
6. Final Fantasy XII (PS2)
As war looms on the horizon, the mighty Archadian Empire begins a campaign to subjugate its neighbors. The small kingdom of Dalmasca shares their fate, and it is here that our tale begins. Two years after the fall of Dalmasca, the citizens are without guidance and direction. In the capital city of Rabanastre, the denizens gather and await the introduction of Archadia's new consul. To Vaan, a young man living on the streets of Rabanastre, the Empire is a hated enemy who took the life of his brother, the only family he had left. In an effort to exact revenge, Vaan hatches a plot to break into the palace and steal from the occupying imperials.
There, he gets more than he bargained for as he runs into Princess Ashe, the sole surviving heir to the Dalmascan throne. Together, the two will embark on an incredible journey through Ivalice, tracing the mysteries behind the Archadian Empire's invasion. The choices they make will determine the very fate of the world. If this wasn't enough, check out the game's review here and tons of codes and hints here!
7. Halo 3 (Xbox 360)
The Mission: The Covenant controls Earth. The Flood is unleashed and on the loose. With the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balance, Master Chief is the only one who can save the human race. The entire epic story arc has led up to this moment. Master Chief, the last of his kind, is a warrior born for combat and bred for war - and is humanity's only hope.
After stowing away on a Forerunner spacecraft, Master Chief, a genetically altered, cybernetically enhanced Spartan supersoldier, must race back to Earth to stop the Covenant once and for all and save mankind. With his artificial intelligence companion Cortana in the grip of the Flood's intelligent embodiment, Gravemind, Master Chief and his allies are vastly outnumbered, but the stakes are too high to do anything but face them head-on.
In "Halo 3," the third installment of the legendary epic, the war has come to a climax; the Flood continues to grow in numbers and strength, the armies of Earth are scattered and decimated, and the Covenant threatens to activate the Halo, effectively destroying all life in the galaxy. Master Chief's mission is to stop the Covenant, destroy the impending Flood threat and, ultimately, save mankind. You'll find the most original Halo 3 review here and its secrets here.
8. God of War II (2) (PS2)
God of War, returns in GOD OF WAR II. Armed with all-new brutal combat moves and magic, players retake the role of Kratos and embark on a new epic adventure to change the fate of mortals and Gods alike. As Kratos, players will travel through unique levels of exceptionally detailed and vividly striking environments, unfolding story driven puzzles and competing in numerous, epic boss battles in the quest for revenge. The story picks up where players last left off with Kratos. Sitting atop his throne on Olympus, Kratos, the once mortal warrior has become a threat far worse than his predecessor Ares, had ever been. Kratos is a ruthless God, whose wrath strikes down anyone who crosses his path or the path of his beloved Sparta.
The "Ghost of Sparta" sets out to alter that which no mortal, or god has ever changed, his fate. Kratos' journey brings him to the very edge of the Earth, facing countless beasts, monsters, and horrors from his previous life, all bent on preventing him from reaching his goal. But this is Kratos, and his defiance is filled with such arrogance and contempt that all of the Ancient World still trembles at his name: Kratos, the God of War. 9. Resident Evil 4 (PS2)
In Resident Evil 4 players are reacquainted with Leon S. Kennedy, Raccoon City Police Department's idealistic rookie cop from Resident Evil 2. It has been six years since the destruction of Raccoon City and in that time, the U.S. government has been able to destroy the nefarious Umbrella Corporation. Fast forward to 2004 and players rejoin Leon, who is now a U.S. agent with a top-secret mission. He has been tasked to look into the abduction of the President's daughter and his investigation has led him to a mysterious location in Europe. As Leon encounters unimaginable horrors, he must find out who or what is behind everything.
We reviewed this beauty right here and in case you're stuck, there's a list of useful tips right here!
10. Need for Speed: Carbon (PS2)
The battle for the city is won in the canyon as Need for Speed Carbon immerses you in the world's most dangerous and adrenaline-filled form of street racing. For the first time in a Need for Speed game, build a crew and race in an all-out war for your city against rival crews and opposing car classes. You'll risk everything to take over rival neighborhoods one street at a time.
Each crew member has unique skills that you trigger during races to give you the winning edge over opponents. Call on a Blocker to create a distraction and slow down other racers or a Scout to lead you to shortcuts on the track. As the police turn up the heat and force the races to the outskirts of the city, the battle ultimately shifts to Carbon Canyon, where territories and reputations can be lost on every perilous curve.
Use your creativity to design your crew's cars with the revolutionary new Autoscuplt car customization tool that gives you the power to turn every vehicle into the car you've always wanted. Represent your car class, your crew, and your streets in Need for Speed Carbon, the next revolution in racing games. We checked out the PC version of the game and we're still loving it, but there's also a reason to cheat the system, folks…
