The iPod Touch, notebooks, digital photo frames etc.

Christmas is approaching rapidly, and everyone's checking their bank accounts (the customers) or their product stocks (the vendors) in order to make sure they'll be ready for the madness that will ensue. And mainly the same as the past years, gadgets and hi-tech consumer electronics will most likely be quite popular gifts, depending on the customer's budgets, of course. So, if you're not yet sure what to get your loved ones for Christmas, check out the following list (created with a little help from a study by BT Shop) for possible clues.

Ranking number one as the possible Christmas gift is (as expected, actually) Apple's iPod player, in its two latest flavors, the Touch (8 GB or 16 GB), the new Nano and the improved Classic. I would also mention the iPhone, but since the device is not exactly available worldwide, let's just say that it's a good option for those countries where it hit Apple's shelves.

Ranking number two in this hypothetic list are portable computing systems (laptops or notebooks), which have been popular purchases for the past few years. However, the first serious surprise comes in at number 3, namely digital photo frames, which seem to become increasingly popular with the users, despite their rather high prices.

Gaming consoles come fourth in this Christmas shopping top, the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii battling it out for the customer's money (not to mention the PSP Slim and the DS Lite). And since we're talking about gaming consoles, it's worth mentioning the fact that Halo 3 is predicted to be the best sold video game this Christmas (although Bioshock and Crysis are also some interesting alternatives).

Other possible technological gifts include HDTV sets (which, however, are more expensive, so these might represent a bit of a problem), various mobile phones, MP3 players (other than the iPods), as well as GPS navigators (always a good gift for a driver). Of course, the only thing that customers should have in mind is that they shouldn't overspend and find themselves in huge debts after the Christmas period is over (as things usually happen).

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
