We already knew that the 2011 Spike TV Video Game Awards, which aired last Saturday, was going to see the reveal of a new Tony Hawk skateboarding game, but it didn’t really get us that excited, largely because the last few iterations were mediocre and had clunky motion controls.

Fortunately, Activision and RoboModo confirmed that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD is coming, a game that takes some of the most impressive levels from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2, remasters them in high definition, and aims at emulating the same classic experience, without any tacked on features.

According to Tony Hawk himself, the game is set to arrive in the first half of 2012 and will see levels like School, Downhill or Warehouse, the latter of which is showcased in the trailer above, be included.

Expect more details about Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD in the near future.
