After releasing the first trailer for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD title during the weekend at the 2011 Spike TV Video Game Awards, Activision, its publisher, and Robomodo, its developer, have showcased the first actual details about this remastered experience.

After a couple of botched attempts at trying to introduce motion controls and clunky peripherals to the Tony Hawk skateboarding simulator series, the two companies have decided to play it safe and remaster levels from some of the most popular entries in the franchise, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2, in a whole new package.

After seeing the first actual footage from the game, we now have the first actual details about the upcoming project.

“Ridiculously high scoring trick combos return to videogame consoles this summer in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD, today announced Activision Publishing. Developed by Robomodo, this digital title takes the best elements of the classic THPS games and gives them a fresh update to create an all new skateboarding experience.”

The game will once again use regular controllers, instead of that clunky skateboard peripheral, and task players with chaining together tricks and stunts in order to rack up as many points as possible.

There will be a huge amount of licensed skateboarding pros, with Tony Hawk himself being joined by Nyjah Huston, Chris Cole, Eric Koston, Andrew Reynolds or Rodney Mullen.

“We’re going back to the core of what made the original Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games so popular, while leveraging today’s console power and online capabilities,” said Tony Hawk. “We've updated many elements to reflect today’s skateboarding scene as well. Long-time fans of the series will appreciate the huge amount of polished content at a very low price."

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD will be released as a downloadable title for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, costing “around $15” so Europeans can also expect a price of around €15 when it will appear in summer, 2012.
