It seems that the VGA show on Saturday can add another video game reveal to its line-up, with publisher Activision Blizzard set to offer the first information on a new Tony Hawk skateboard powered title, which will probably be launched during 2012.

A Twitter message from the former skateboarding superstar reads: “I’ll be announcing the upcoming release of something new on Sat; the same day as the Spike Video Game Awards. Coincidence? I think not.”

The Tony Hawk series was put on hold by Activision as the same time as the company announced that it would no longer create music based video games in the Guitar Hero franchise.

It’s not clear whether the new game will be a reboot of the whole franchise or simply a remake of one of the more successful Tony Hawk titles.

Robomondo was in charge of creating the most recent game in the series but sales were underwhelming and most reviewers said that the gameplay was not attractive enough.
