In the gaming industry a few franchises have gained a somewhat cult following, one of them being the famous Tomb Raider series, which made Eidos a very profitable company a long time ago. The success was largely due to the fact that the main character was the lovely Lara Croft who wasn't your usual treasure hunter, as her image transcended games and became almost a household name, especially in the movie industry, where it has been played by famous actress Angelina Jolie in the Tomb Raider series.

Now, with Tomb Raider: Underworld, the latest iteration in the franchise, Eidos hasn't really achieved a very big profit but it seems that all hope is not lost, and the promised DLC (Downloadable Content) episodes exclusive for the Xbox 360 will make an appearance soon enough. Eidos is surely hoping that these new adventures will make gamers more interested in the title and will give Tomb Raider: Underworld more publicity.

The first chapter of Lara's new adventures, Tomb Raider: Underworld – Beneath the Ashes, will appear on February 10 and will be available for download on the Xbox Live Marketplace. This new adventure will continue the events in the original game, and Lara will return to the Croft Manor where she will uncover a set of caverns and crypts that hide “a deadly source of power.” This first pack will also contain six new costumes for Lara to try out while she is exploring the caverns, and it will have a set of new achievements, totaling up to 125 points.

The second chapter, Tomb Raider: Underworld – Lara’s Shadow, will appear much later, on March 10, but details about it weren't yet revealed by Eidos, which hopes that these new adventures will make the game more popular with its target audience.

While Tomb Raider: Underworld promised to deliver one of the most realistic experiences in the whole series, a lot of people remained unimpressed by Lara's new tricks and found the title to be somewhat repetitive and dull. Hopefully, things will change with this new batch of content and people will be eager to try out Lara's abilities.
