The Tomb Raider reboot that is supposed to make Lara Croft a relevant figure in the world of gaming yet again should arrive during 2012, and the developers working on the game are eager to show off the latest details about the new treasure raiding experience.

Speaking to the fans who are following the development of the game, Karl Stewart, who is the global brand manager working at Crystal Dynamics, has stated, “There is a core discovery to be made, and that core discovery will unlock the mystery of the entire island and answer a lot of questions. There are items and artifacts that you have to pick up and find around the island, but everything points to this big discovery.”

He also addressed one core request from the fan base, saying, “I’ve read and fed into the script now on many, many occasions, and I can tell you that there is no love interest in this game. She is trying to survive. She is busy. Surviving the situation is all she can cope with right now; surviving a relationship would be a bit tough.”

Stewart has further talked about the combat system in the Tomb Raider reboot, saying that it is created with variety in mind and will allow for more than one approach and style for each challenge.

Melee, ranged attacks and stealth options will all be included in the game.

A bow will be used for hunting and more information on how it will be implemented is expected in an upcoming developer diary.

The new Tomb Raider game will also impose a series of more realistic restrictions on the movement of Lara Croft, designed to make it somewhat harder for players to find the best path to their objective while making the game world feel more organic.

The simply named Tomb Raider is supposed to get a fall launch on the PlayStation 3, the Xbox 360 and the PC.
