Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is set to debut this month on the PS4 and Xbox One next-gen consoles, and Sony has just detailed some of the special improvements included in the PS4 version, such as the visual upgrades but also the ways in which the game uses the new DualShock 4 controller.

The Tomb Raider reboot from Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix that appeared last year amazed millions of gamers worldwide across the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms.

Now, the two companies want to bring that same great experience onto the PS4 and Xbox One next-gen consoles, in the form of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition.

Both versions of the new game will feature a wide array of improvements in terms of visuals, running at a 1080p full HD resolution and with a 60fps framerate, while showing off new character models for Lara Croft and her friends, as well as better physics and much more.

Now, Sony has just revealed on its PS blog the different PS4-exclusive features included by the Definitive Edition of Tomb Raider.

First up, the game makes full use of the DualShock 4 controller, as you can use the built-in touchpad to light a torch or adjust the in-game map.

The built-in speaker is used to render radio chatter and transmissions, making the whole experience feel a bit more realistic.

Last but not least, the controller's lightbar is employed both during shooting, as it flashes when Lara opens fire, but also during the more quiet moments, as the light will glow orange and red when a torch is lit.

All the multiplayer DLC that appeared for Tomb Raider, namely the eight maps and six weapons, is also included in the Definitive Edition, as is the Dark Horse comic and the complete art book, both accessible via the menu.
