14 DAY TRIAL // TomTom, a provider of navigation solutions and digital maps, has announced that the TomTom app for iPhone navigation is available for immediate download via Apple’s iTunes App Store. A total of 18 apps are available for regions including Brazil, Mexico, Hong Kong, Australia, Eastern Europe (and lots more), with price tags ranging between $49.99 and $139.99.

The most recent additions, according to TomTom, are apps for Brazil and Mexico from Tele Atlas. They provide the best routing and maps, navigation software including fast-route planning and clear voice instructions, automatic re-routing if a turn is missed, a route demo or the map of the route when trip planning and the latest Tele Atlas maps of Brazil and Mexico.
According to TomTom, users of any version of its navigation app for iPhone 3G and 3GS will find it easy to use and personalize the tool, with the user interface being fully optimized for Apple’s device. There are multiple display options, including the landscape and portrait navigation view, as well as the night and day color mode for an optimized screen visibility in varying light conditions. The UI is also localized in 18 languages, while the user can change the view settings from 2D to 3D map display. Other features include:
- Multi-touch gestures such as tap, swipe, pinch and zoom to operate the application and zoom in and out of the map; - Navigation to contacts in address book; - Points-of-interest search and call capabilities from iPhone.
