If you rely on your iPhone for in-car GPS, chances are you’re using one of TomTom’s apps. If so, you’ll be glad to know that they’ve updated their navigation apps on iOS, adding new maps, improved traffic service, a stop navigation button, and more.

TomTom says that 15% of the roads change every year, which is why “your TomTom app update comes with the latest and most up-to-date map.”

A new Stop Navigation button is included “to put the app into power saving mode when you no longer need instructions.” When you flip the switch back on, guidance will resume.

Traffic service is updated with improved handling of closed roads and more information on total traffic delay, while the Search function now lets you find TomTom Places near your Favorites and Recent Destinations.

Premium voices are also included in this update, and the app now sends information back to TomTom about how you use it.

“We use that information to improve the user experience and to create general usage statistics. You can choose whether to send this information or not at any time in the Settings > Advanced menu,” according to the company.

Also worth noting is that TomTom apps no longer support the iPhone 3G and the second-generation iPod touch. Also, nothing running iOS 4 will support them.
