When it comes down to GPS navigation TomTom is one of the most established brands out there, the company announcing two new devices that are bound to hit the US market, the GO 2405 TM and GO 2505 TM that offer an enhanced user interface as well as faster routing.

Available with 4.3” (GO 2405 TM) or 5” (GO 2505 TM) capacitive glass touchscreens, these new navigators use a new routing algorithm that promises to deliver instant route planning while continuously monitoring traffic information, in order to recommend the best current route to drivers.

As stated earlier, this high-speed routing algorithm will also be accompanied by a new, enhanced user interface that capitalizes on the capacitive screen used in these new devices, enabling users to navigate through menu screens with just a swipe of the finger as well as offering pinch and zoom map viewing.

Furthermore, a voice recognition system can also be used for operating the device, these GO units featuring a redesigned magnetic mount that can easily be docked and un-docked with one hand.

In addition to these new options, drivers will continue to benefit from all those popular features that made TomTom so famous among car navigation system manufacturers such as “Lifetime Traffic & Map Update,” “Announce Street Names” or “Advanced lane guidance”.

“At TomTom, we are continuously working to deliver innovative navigation solutions for our consumers,” said Tom Murray, senior vice president of market development, TomTom.

“The GO Series combines new software architecture and enhanced routing to provide our consumers with superior driving intelligence.”

The TomTom GO Series is initially available at Amazon.com, BestBuy.com and TomTom.com in the United States, the devices coming to other retail stores in mid-2011.

Pricing start at $299 for the 4.3 inch GO 2405 TM, while the 5 inch GO 2505 TM will be available for just $20 more, coming at $319.
