Although GPS navigators are rapidly losing ground to GPS-enabled smartphones, that's not stopping the big names in this field from rolling out such devices, and that's exactly the case with TomTom as well, the company releasing at CES 2011 their GO 2505 M LIVE connected GPS navigator. The 5-inch GPS navigator comes equipped with enhanced navigation features including Intuitive Voice Recognition and Bluetooth Hands-Free Calling, delivering instant and continuous routing wherever they might go.

Plus, a click-and-lock mount is included in the package, in order to secure the PND to the car's windshield, while the 5-inch touchscreen also delivers pinch-to-zoom and swipe from screen-to-screen using gestures.

Since this is, after all, a connected device, it comes with a LIVE service offering, delivered via AT&T’s wireless network, that will be available with a trial subscription out-of-the-box, and includes Local Search powered by Google, Fuel Prices, and Weather Forecasts (sadly, specific details about the extra costs brought about by the LIVE services have not been provided).

Plus, beside the aforementioned services, GO 2505 M LIVE owners will also have access to the TomTom HD Traffic, a database of traffic-related information offering plenty of interesting information regarding the route one might decided to take and helping drivers make the right decisions while in traffic.

“As the world’s leading provider of navigation solutions, we are excited to introduce the next generation of live connected devices to our product line-up,” says Tim Roper, president of TomTom, Inc.

“The addition of TomTom HD traffic to our LIVE services offering represents a revolution in real-time traffic information that will further empower our consumers with superior driving intelligence,” Mr. Roper concluded.

The TomTom GO 2505 M LIVE will be available at retail stores and from online retailers in mid-2011 for $349 MSRP, which is not exactly that bad a price, all things considered.
