Now we’re talking! Brace yourself for fandemonium

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is still making the rounds online, and while more celebrities are taking it up, let’s not kid ourselves: they’re not really doing it for the cause but rather to get attention onto themselves. But not Tom Hiddleston, though.

The reason the Challenge has been criticized a lot is that many of those who agree to do it don’t even mention ALS or the ALS Association, which accepts donations, so there’s really no raising of awareness behind their gesture of pouring a bucket of ice water over themselves.

ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease, and the idea for the Challenge is to either do it or donate money. Tom chose the latter but at least he made sure he mentioned the cause and the website where people can donate money.

My only objection about this video is that it has too much shirt in it. Most Hollywood actors who agreed to do the Challenge did it mostly shirtless, especially if they’re ripped. Can you imagine the wave of hysteria that would have sent through Tom’s very loyal and almost shamelessly vocal at times female fanbase?

Speaking of fanbases, Tom nominated his good friend Benedict Cumberbatch next. He has 24 hours to do the Challenge or donate. Hold on to your seats, ladies, things are about to get really interesting in here.

And remember to donate!
