As if rumors that “Mad Max: Fury Road” was already behind schedule and over budget weren’t enough to put a damper on fans’ hopes, here comes a new report to claim that things aren’t that rosy between the two leads either.
Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy can’t stand each other, an inside source says for Radar Online
Hardy, known for his roles in “Bronson,” “Inception” and “The Dark Knight Rises,” is a Method actor who has already been compared to Marlon Brando, even though he resents it.
It’s this Method acting of his that gets on Charlize’s nerves, because he refuses to step out of character even when they’re on breaks from shooting, says the spy.
Charlize wants to hang out with him and have him mix with the crew, but he just isolates himself, muttering and acting as if the cameras are still rolling.
According to the spy, being such a consummated thespian is somehow a bad thing.
“Charlize and Tom are just not getting on together. Professionally, they are doing a wonderful job, but in-between takes Tom likes to stay in character and is constantly talking to himself and mumbling things,” says the source.
“Charlize has tried to talk to him during breaks in filming
but he shuts himself off from the rest of the cast. She has the ability to switch off when she’s not filming, and can immediately turn into her character as soon the camera’s rolling,” the insider adds.
She eventually gave up.
“However, he prefers to isolate himself and Charlize thinks he’s a weirdo! But I don’t think that bothers him, he just does his own thing,” the tipster reveals.
Of course, coming from an unnamed source, the above report is best taken with a grain of salt, especially since both Charlize and Tom are known for being true pros on set.
“Mad Max: Fury Road” will be out sometime in 2013.
