Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks announced in a statement that he will produce the "Deep throat' movie, an adaptation after the life story of Deep Throat, the world's most famous anonymous source.
Mark Felt, a retired FBI, had recently admitted that he is "Deep Throat, the legendary informer in the Watergate affair, who revealed President Nixon's attempt to obstruct justice - which led to the President's resignation in 1974.
Universal has obtained the film rights to the story, and struck a deal with Hanks' company Playtone. Universal spokesman Paul Pflug said it was too early to say whether Hanks would take the lead role. "At this point he's a producer on the film," said Mr Pflug.
