14 DAY TRIAL // With rumors saying that Tom Cruise’s last 2 marriages, to Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes, ended because of the clash of beliefs between the Hollywood star and his non-Scientologist wives, it was widely assumed that he would be looking among the Church’s members for a future partner.
After all, you can only come across the same problems so many times before you start doing things differently to prevent it from happening.
Radar Online reports that, right now, Tom is “open to anything” in terms of a possible lover / future wife, even if that means dating someone from outside the Church.
Luckily for him, new BFF Elizabeth Hammer, Armie Hammer’s wife, loves to play matchmaker – and she is determined not to give up trying until she finds the perfect lady to become the fourth Mrs. Tom Cruise (Tom was married to Mimi Rogers before Nicole and Katie).
The e-zine says that Armie and Tom met through British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, back in the day when Cruise was still considered for the lead in “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” in which Armie stars. They hit if off instantly and have been staying in contact ever since.
“[Elizabeth Hammer, Armie’s wife] is a very busybody matchmaker type and is seeking out the perfect woman for Tom, and she doesn’t have to be famous, either. Tom is on the hunt for a new girl and appreciates Elizabeth’s efforts,” says a source.
The tipster goes on to explain that Tom and Elizabeth, together with Armie, are “besties” right now and that she “thinks the world of Tom and can’t stand to see him alone.”
“But whether his Scientology cronies approve of Elizabeth’s match-making attempts remains to be seen. [But Tom] is open to anything at the moment,” the insider goes on to say.
Rumors about Tom’s love life have been making the rounds since his divorce from Katie Holmes, right after all those reports about him wanting / dying to get back with her disappeared from the blogosphere.
In recent months, he’s been linked to Elisabeth Moss and Laura Prepon, both famous Scientologists, which further fueled all that talk about how he would marry from within the ranks of fellow believers. Moss never addressed the rumors, but Prepon did, saying it was ridiculous to assume that, just because two people shared the same beliefs, they would be romantically involved.
Cruise, on the other hand, has long stopped bothering about these rumors, having understood that they come with the territory.
And, while the media speculates on who he’ll date and wed next, he is focusing on his career. He’s never really gone away but he’s seeing a rise in popularity right now, having attained beloved action star level once more.
His most recent film in this vein, the sci-fi “Edge of Tomorrow” with Emily Blunt, isn’t even out in theaters but it’s already ranked as 95 percent fresh on industry site Rotten Tomatoes.
