Tom Cruise's 9/11 Comments and the Scientology Cure

Tom Cruise has recently visited a New York City Rescue Workers Detoxification Project fundraiser and maintained his comments about the September 11 (2001) rescue workers coming off their post-trauma medications.

His pregnant future wife, Katie Holmes, joined him, together with the famous R&B singer Usher. The annual Tribeca gala ticket was $7,500, which included dinner and a photo with Cruise. The event has raised $1.6 million (890,000).

"I started this project out of the great respect I have for the courage and service of the rescue workers. () When I started this project I was in position where I knew I could help. I absolutely consider it an honor and a privilege to be here to help these men and women", he said.

The Mission Impossible 3 actor has been criticized for suggesting the firefighters suffering the effects of smoke inhalation from the World Trade Center terrorist attacks to give up their medication as part of a 'purification rundown' no-expense-spared by his Church of Scientology elders.
In fact, all the people exposed to potentially dangerous materials circulating in the air after the collapse of the World Trade Center, were advised to choose the Scientologist cure based on saunas and other natural treatments, like cooking oil, for example.

The treatments promoted by Cruise and the Church of Scientology were dismissed by the doctors.

'If our doctors are prescribing medication, and they (Scientologists) are saying, 'don't take it', that's a problem for us', Deputy Fire Commissioner Frank Gribbon told PageSix.com. Even the department's deputy chief medical officer Dr David Prezant seems to be against the treatment.
'He (Prezant) is not pleased when patients are advised to disobey doctors' orders. That's where he drew the line', Gribbon added.

Meanwhile, Cruise continues defending the healing process by saying: 'More than 500 individuals have recovered health and job fitness through this project.'

Tom Cruise can believe/say/do whatever he wants. I can do the same. What's the ado?

The "ado" is that what he says is affecting other people's lives. There are many examples of people whose lives were destroyed by Scientology (note: http://theunfunnytruth.ytmnd.com/). If Tom Cruise is telling people not to listen to their doctors (who have actual medical training) then he is endangering their health. This is not exercising his right to free speech; instead, it makes him an accessory to their death.
