Over the weekend, MTV released
two different promo videos for the upcoming MTV Movie Awards, which will take place on June 6. Both had in common “Hollywood mogul” Les Grossman, a fictional character played by Tom Cruise in the 2008 hit comedy “Tropic Thunder” by Ben Stiller. Now, as AceShowbiz can confirm, Les is back – and he’s not alone.
While the other two videos featured Tom Cruise himself in what looked like an outtake from 1982’s “Risky Business,” and “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson, in the new video, Les manages none other than Taylor Lautner. Fans know the buffed up teen idol also from “The Twilight Saga,” where he plays werewolf and Bella’s best friend Jacob Black. In the MTV promo, Taylor is just Taylor, looking to get out of attending MTV for a friend’s wedding.
“Tom Cruise still portrays his ‘Tropic Thunder’ character Les Grossman in a new promo video for 2010 MTV Movie Awards. After offering a grooming advice to Robert Pattinson in the previous clip, Cruise now faces another ‘Twilight’ star Taylor Lautner. The video follows Lautner as he claims that he can’t attend this weekend’s show because he will be the best man on his friend’s wedding. Cruise then brings in a double who apparently does not make the 18-year-old star satisfied,” AceShowbiz says of the video.
Not only is Lautner not happy with the so-called body double, but he’s also convinced that no one would fall for it if they sent him in his stead as a best man at the wedding. Les feels differently, though, even asking him at one point, “Wait, which of the Taylors spoke just now?” as if he weren’t able to tell them apart. Towards the end of the video, though, Lautner appears to give in to Grossman’s powerful arguments and agrees to attend the MTV Movie Awards – after all, they don’t call Les the manager to the biggest stars for nothing.
Below is the hilarious MTV clip with Tom Cruise as Les Grossman and Taylor Lautner as himself. Voices in the blogosphere say the one
with Pattinson was better, but everyone is, of course, entitled to their own opinion. Check it out and make up your own mind about it.
