Here is another franchise that is being dusted off and brought back to life in cinemas. The story known as “Highlander” in which immortal men fight it out to absorb each other's powers and become the strongest should be familiar to those who grew up in the ‘80s and ‘90s.

The Wrap claims that Summit Entertainment is looking to reboot the films and that they are reaching out to Tom Cruise for the title role. So far, there is no indication that Cruise, who is still filming the latest movie in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, is interested in appearing in a movie which is full of beheadings and swordfighting.

Cruise's representative hasn't given a clear indication of the role, saying that Tom gets a lot of propositions from many big projects in Hollywood, given his stature in the film industry. He wanted to point out that, at the moment, they are “far from talks.”

The role of Connor MacLeod was originally played in the 1986 movie by Christopher Lambert and the general consensus is that Tom would be playing the same part. Cedric Nicholas-Troyan is going to make his directorial debut with this movie, based on a script by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway and Melissa Rosenberg.
