Women say Cruise is gorgeous no matter his height

Tom Cruise has often been criticized in the media for being shorter than the average man and, most importantly, than most of his lady friends and lovers. After he had just married Katie Holmes, an urban myth of sorts had it that she was not allowed to wear high heels and, above all, that Cruise had included a clause in her prenup contract stating precisely that. Now, women have spoken, The Sun says.

Over 2,000 ladies who took part in a survey conducted by OnePoll have voted Cruise as the hottest short man in showbiz right now. This goes to show that height has nothing to do with one’s appeal with the ladies, which was already clear from the fact that the men included in the poll seem to have done pretty well for themselves as regards their love life.

“The 5ft 7in star beat Top Gear’s Richard Hammond to the top spot. Cruise, 47, spent years married to 5ft 10in Nicole Kidman – who famously quipped ‘Now I can wear heels’ after they split in 2001. Hammond, 40, also 5ft 7in, is overshadowed by sidekicks Jeremy Clarkson and James May. Jazz star Jamie Cullum – who at 5ft 4in is dating 5ft 11in model Sophie Dahl – was third,” The Sun goes on to say about the male stars who came out second and third, respectively.

“This proves you don’t have to be 6ft to be [attractive]. These guys are regularly seen with stunning girls, which gives everyone struggling on the height side a bit of hope,” a spokesperson for OnePoll says of the results to The Sun. Granted, whether these women also rated the men’s good looks in relation to their success or the kind of paychecks they can command for a single gig has not been mentioned. Because of this, we might as well assume that it’s only their looks that were appraised by the respondents.

Lewis Hamilton, Mark Owen, James McAvoy, Michael Owen, Kelly Jones, Declan Donnelly and Robert Carlyle round up the top ten of male stars for whom the inches mean nothing in terms of appeal with the ladies.
