Tom Cruise Takes Up "Playboy" Role

Um, won't they have to enhance certain parts of his body for that? I mean his height, of course...

Tommy will be converting Playboy models next

This is just about the most hilarious piece of news I heard today. That adorably crazy Scientology midget, Tom Cruise, is apparently set to play Hugh Hefner in a new biopic of the Playboy founder's life. Um, I don't think Tommy's team did a very good job researching this part. I mean, first of all, no one shoots anyone in this kind of biopic, and Tommy doesn't get to strike a winning pose as some sort of big-time winner that kicks alien a*s. There will however be a lot of sex involved with a lot of ladies who I suspect won't even know what Scientology is. The horror!

The 45-year-old actor, who has an 18-month-old daughter Suri with his actress wife Katie Holmes, is hot favorite to portray the 81-year-old lothario in upcoming movie (tentatively called "Playboy") and is reportedly excited about the prospect of bringing Hefner's "colorful life" to the big screen. Colorful sounds good, but there is one problem: I'm not sure they'll be able to make Tom look taller if he's constantly naked. Bummer...I guess they'll also have to cast for really short Playboy models too. That will be interesting.

A source close to the actor said: "Tom knows of Hugh's colorful past and thinks he would be the perfect person to bring it to the big screen. He also thinks the role would be a challenge for him, and would remind people of his versatility as an actor. At the moment people are concentrating on his personal life, and his marriage to Katie - but he wants to remind them that he can act too". I think what he wanted to say was that they want to convince the people out there that he's not the nut job most of us believe him to be.

A spokesperson for the star has refused to confirm whether he has accepted the part. They said: "A lot of people consider Tom for a lot of roles". Leonardo DiCaprio - who frequently visits Hugh's famous Playboy mansion in Los Angeles - has also been linked to the role. 'X-Men 3' director Brett Ratner has reportedly signed on to direct the film. I'm not sure whether I should be surprised, amused or horrified at the prospect, but I'm definitely interested in what will come out of this - and will of course keep you up to speed with all new developments.
