Tom Cruise has been known to make some pretty outrageous statements but, then again, which actor or actress hasn’t? Laugh as you will about his most recent claim that he “invented” the concept of the movie press tour, but he might actually have a point.

Tom has been promoting his latest movie, “Edge of Tomorrow,” like crazy, including with an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel. At one point, while talking about the many cities he had to travel to to show up at premieres, the actor said that he was the one who came up with the idea for the press tour that is so popular these days.

You can see that segment from the interview below.

Cruise explained that one such tour used to take months before he thought of the idea of spending only a couple of days in each major city.

“I like premieres. When I saw the old photos of the [Hollywood] Grauman’s Chinese and those wonderful premieres – I came up with the idea – oh let's have premieres in different countries and then do it that way. I came up with that. It took me a few years to get it going,” the actor added.

Also this week, Cruise stopped by Fallon, where he revealed that he made it a point of watching one new movie every day, because he loved cinema this much. The only films he would never see were his own.

Because I know there are many people like myself who find Tom fascinating to watch, both in film and in interviews, I will include this video as well, below. Enjoy!
