Before “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” came out, there was a lot of talk about how Jeremy Renner had been brought on board so that he could take over from Tom Cruise in future installments. Apparently, Tom isn’t going anywhere.

In a new interview cited by AceShowbiz, the actor offers plenty of hints about “MI 5” and even states out loud that he’ll be making more installments in the franchise in the future.

The fifth film is in the works as we speak, Tom reveals, failing to offer something more concrete than that.

“We’re already working on different images. Talking conceptually. I love travelling around promoting different movies because I’m always looking at different places, and I always walk around to see the city. I look at architecture, subways… coming up with different sequences,” he says.

Moreover, the fifth won’t be the last: Tom promises he will be making “MI” movies as long as audiences are willing to pay to see them which, judging by how “Ghost Protocol” fared, will be a while.

“I started Mission: Impossible hoping I could make many of them. It’s a character that I can grow with. […] It’s been pretty exciting. I’ll make a bunch of those. I’ll make as many as people want to see… because they’re very challenging, and so much fun to make,” Cruise says.

Clearly, he has no intention of simply handing his “MI” leading man badge to Renner.
