Dr. Ivo Pitanguy is helping the 49-year-old star stay wrinkle-free

If you compare recent photos of Tom Cruise to older ones, you'd hardly find a difference in them. If anything, he seems younger, more “pulled” and wrinkle-free today, which has sparked serious speculation about plastic surgery.

The Hollywood Reporter is now saying it might have learned who's been helping the actor maintain his amazing good looks all these years.

His name is Dr. Ivo Pitanguy, he's from Brazil and he's partly credited for sparking the plastic surgery frenzy in the country.

Reports online also have him linked with some of the biggest names of today and not only, from politicians to models and singers, whom he's helped stay at the top of their game all along.

Admittedly, Tom Cruise is also one of them, which would explain how come he now looks younger than he did 11 years ago.

“Tom Cruise, 49, is looking eerily younger than ever. Which leads us to surmise that A. he’s getting some help or B. he’s got a scary portrait in his attic,” THR writes, including a not too subtle reference to “The Picture of Dorian Gray.”

“The actor – who turns 50 on July 3, 2012, - has looked particularly fresh-faced as he promotes his new movie Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” the movie-oriented publication says.

Indeed, until he kicked off the “MI” promo tour, Tom never made headlines for being particularly youthful looking, but all that changed when he began promoting the film.

Moreover, he seemed to age in reverse as he did more and more appearances. THR says a possible answer could come from the Brazilian media.

“According to the Brazilian mag EPOCA, Cruise has had meetings with world famous Brazilian plastic surgeon Dr. Ivo Pitanguy. Cruise even invited the good doctor to the 2009 Rio premiere of Knight and Day,” THR notes.

“And on that same trip, Cruise, wife Katie Holmes and daughter Suri, were photographed having a lunch at Pitanguy’s private island in Brazil’s Bay of Kings,” adds the same publication.

Since Dr. Pitanguy is said to have a hand “guided by heaven” and Tom has been looking particularly good on his latest promo tour, it would be ridiculous not to assume the two are connected, the e-zine seems to imply.

Of course, Tom has never said anything about having had work done on his face. Knowing him, he never will – but that doesn't mean the report above can't hold water.
