Tom Cruise bought a cell phone to his young co-star in "War of The Worlds", Dakota Fanning, for her 11th birthday. Dakota confessed she was thrilled when she saw the gift, because her parents wouldn't let her have a mobile phone. Fanning celebrated her birthday on the set, with everybody from the cast and crew.

She says, "Tom gave me a cell phone, so that was really cool. My mom and dad wouldn't let me have a cell phone but Tom got me one for my birthday!

"It's really funny, 'cause on my cell phone I pretend that I'm on the phone when I'm not and I'll pretend that I have messages when I'm just out on the street."

Dakota spoke about her seven-year-old sister Elle too, who has developed a fixation with Marilyn Monroe. Eleven-year-old Dakota says of her sister, "She's obsessed with Marilyn Monroe. She loves her.

She thinks she's the prettiest woman in the whole world and she likes her clothes and thinks she looks like her. She wanted a Marilyn Monroe room. She wants everything Marilyn Monroe."

Their grandmother even went to an auction for Marilyn Monroe's personal things and stayed there for 8 hours to buy something for Elle. She managed to take a powder and a creme, used by Marilyn.

"The cream doesn't open because it's all crusted shut. It was $600 for her face creams and face powders. But then the beauty supply set that we wanted went for $7,000."
