Tom Cruise has been and will probably always be very secretive when it comes to his personal life. While the entire world must already be aware of it, US talk-show host Jay Leno seemed to care very little about it the other night when he started grilling the actor about his love life, much to the latter’s embarrassment, as the New York Daily News says.
Leno debuted a new segment of the show called ten@ten, where he made faux “house calls” on celebrities to ask them ten questions they would never otherwise have to answer in a media interview. First up were Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, who are currently shooting “Wichita” in Worcester, Mass. As the video below shows, the first questions were the easy ones, Leno saving the best for last.
After asking Tom Cruise whether he ever went to see exotic dancers at a club, to which the actor said he never had, Leno brought out the big guns, asking a direct question about his love life. Tom Cruise was reluctant to answer at first, laughing awkwardly and somewhat embarrassed because he couldn’t say whether he was better at flying or at making love.
“You know what, I don’t know.” the actor said. “I try to excel in all areas and I’ve never been asked for a refund, so I don’t know.” Tom then added, putting on a brave face and keeping his famous grin on.
Another star who had to face the music, as they say, on Jay Leno just recently was rapper Kanye West, who performed with Jay-Z and Rihanna on the first episode of the new season of the show. Kanye sat down with the talk-show host only hours after the now-infamous VMAs interruption and apologized about rushing to the stage and cutting Taylor Swift off as she was about to begin her acceptance speech for winning the Best Female Video award.
“It’s been really difficult. I’m just dealing with the fact that I hurt someone or took anything away from a talented artist or from anywhere. I only wanted to help people. All my life I only wanted to give and do something that I felt was right. It was just very rude, period. I’d like to apologize to her in person.” Kanye said a few days ago. Leno pushed him, asking about what his late mother would say about his rant at the MTV awards, and Kanye almost burst in tears, as we also reported.
