Tom Cruise is a Scientologist who likes to jump on couches and embarrass the hell out of Oprah, which, admittedly, isn’t such an easy feat to pull because she’s done thousands of interviews and has seen all kinds of people. He’s also a bit on the crazy side and makes more diva demands than a full-time diva like Mariah Carey.

Tom Cruise believes anti-depressants are evil and sees himself and his fellow Scientologists like little Messiahs that are saving the world as we speak. He’s been married three times and his relationships inevitably crumble because of his affiliation with the Church of Scientology.

Tom Cruise has a huge complex for being short, so he banned wife Katie Holmes from wearing heels around him. He also started getting plastic surgery, afraid that he might lose work. And these are just a few of the rumors that have made the rounds in the past 5 or 7 years.

Tom Cruise, the ultimate action movie star

Rumors aside, there’s absolutely no denying that Tom Cruise can still carry a movie. Nay, even though he’s 52 years old and he seems to be universally hated for reasons that have nothing to do with his career, he can still front blockbusters.

Even those movies he makes that are panned by critics manage to make a killing at the box office. By all means, Tom Cruise remains the ultimate action movie star, and he doesn’t seem to want to stop or slow down even though he’s not exactly getting any younger.

Unlike most actors, Cruise likes to do his own stunts. After climbing on his own on the tallest building in Dubai for the latest installment in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, he’s now looking to top that for the upcoming one.

So, Tom got strapped on the side of a military plane, which then took off and flew over the British countryside at about 5,000 feet (1,524 meters) altitude. Reddit says that the Airbus A400M, which you can see in the photos in the gallery below, was flying at 250mph (402.3kmh).

With Tom Cruise strapped on the side. Let that sink in.

Taking commitment to work to a whole new level

Whether you like Tom Cruise as a man / celebrity or not, you won’t be able to deny that his commitment to his work is of the kind that puts fellow actors to shame.

It’s not just the fact that he does his own stunts in action movies, either: Tom Cruise has always been a relentless perfectionist where his work is concerned, something that his co-stars have often attested. He is ethical and he is driven, and he won’t stop until the director is fully satisfied with the work he’s done.

Of all the actors in Hollywood right now, few can probably equal him in terms of willingness to put in the hard work and go to all lengths to get the job done in the most satisfactory manner possible.

So let’s forget about all that Scientology stuff for a while and stare at these photos of Tom doing what he does best, being the ultimate action movie star. “Mission: Impossible 5” won’t be out until December 2015.
