Ubisoft is announcing that it plans to give its March title
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 a
videogame makeover with the release of a downloadable content pack for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC versions of the action game. It is dubbed the Fan Pack and it's free for all the users that have registered their games with Ubisoft, a move which is seen as normal by PC fans but highly unusual on the console market, where DLC packs usually cost a lot of money. We're glad to see that Ubisoft is pushing some PC standards on that market, too.
The highlights of the pack are the three new maps players are getting. They aren't "new" in that you've never seen them before, but rather in that they offer fresh tactical challenges. The aptly named Murdertown is getting a darker version, together with Close Quarters Combat Training, while the third map is a re-worked version of the Calypso Casino, which was a hit with players of the original
Rainbow Six Vegas.
The Fan Pack also introduces a new game mode, called High Stakes, designed to create a more challenging gameplay experience for all those gamers that have complained about the game for being too easy. The new mode removes the player radar, the aim assistance and all the health regeneration. There will also be less ammunition to be found on the game levels and shooting while moving will be less accurate.
The new content also comes with a lot more tweaks and aids for the novice players, including a directional indicator which appears when a grenade is in range, more options regarding spawning which can be selected by the host of a multiplayer game. There are also some new ranks and levels in A.C.E.S. which are designed to keep veteran players interested.
