14 DAY TRIAL // A woman in Toledo has fallen in a sinkhole in central Toledo at 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The hole in the ground opened up near Bancroft Street.
According to the Toledo Blade, the 10-foot (3-meter) deep sinkhole on North Detroit Avenue was formed because of a collapse in the storm and sewage system.
60-year-old Pamela Knox was in the car when it was swallowed. She managed to get out of the crash unscathed, and she was able to climb out using a ladder.
"I'm just happy that as I understand, she walked herself out [of the hole]. [...] We had a lot of rain lately and something must have washed out under the road," Mayor Mike Bell comments.
Officials say that the vehicle is still inside the sinkhole. A crane has been brought in to lift the vehicle and extract it.
