Travelling, and flights in particular, can be exhausting and annoying enough, without having to deal with a crying toddler in your ear the whole way, so no wonder one particular passenger couldn't take it anymore and decided to shut the child up in a more aggressive way, slapping him after a few too many drinks.

The Delta passenger, a 61-year-old former aerospace executive, just couldn't bear it anymore and turned to the child with a slap and a few racial attributes, getting himself into an eight-month-long prison sentence. He shocked both passengers and flight attendants from the Delta flight going to Atlanta from Minneapolis.

The on-the edge man was already on probation for drunken driving and has several previous assault convictions, and the fact that he actually hit someone else's child just made the judge take a more drastic measure in order to call him down. “You don't have the right to raise your hand against another human being,” the judge told him, according to The Consumerist.

The man apologized to the child's mother for his shocking behavior and tried to excuse himself by the fact that he was under the influence of alcohol and also in emotional distraught because he was heading to the hospital to remove his dying son from life support.

The bully's excuse didn't have any effect on the woman who also was grieving the loss of her three-week-old baby removed from life support. She told the man that his suffering gave him no reason to act like a “socially underdeveloped racist” and treat her and her adopted son like they were less human than him.

The man in need of some anger management therapy ended up with an eight-month-long prison sentence in order to pay for his mistake. Even if the prosecutors asked just for six months in jail, the federal judge handling the case considered the man needed a bit more time to chill down and confront his issues and added an extra two moths to the deal.
