The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has received a huge number of mods from the enthusiast community the game has created, and one of the leaders of the Bethesda team working on the game wants players on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 to get access to them.

Todd Howard, who is the game director working on Skyrim, told Kotaku during E3 that, “If I ran the video game world… all consoles would be exactly the same way.”

The developer has partnered with Steam in order to make it easier for players on the PC to get access to mods and install them.

The community has done everything from improving textures to changing the way enemies behave although many players still avoid using mods because of their relative complexity.

At the moment, Bethesda is working on Dawnguard, the first full expansion for Skyrim, and also preparing the 1.6 patch, which will introduce mounted combat.
