Today, September 5, 2012, Freddie Mercury would have turned 66. He died of AIDS at the age of 45, shortly after breaking the sad news to his legions of fans all across the world.

As with Michael Jackson, we could use today to weep the loss of one of the greatest and most influential artists of all times, or we could instead focus only on the positives.

We had Mercury and he made amazing, superb music with his band Queen. Even though we no longer have him, we will always have the music.

In 1986, Queen released the single “Who Wants to Live Forever,” which you will also find embedded above.

Little did they know at the time that Freddie would be the one to live forever.
