The creators of Finaly Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts have been working for a while now on a new Nintendo DS action RPG title, dubbed The World Ends With You. According to Square Enix, the game released in Japan under the name of Subarashiki Kono Sekai, has been already shipped to North American retailers and it is silently waiting for you to purchase it and experience its greatness.

One good thing about the game is the fact that it will teach you a thing or two about the Japanese culture, since that's where most of the game's inspiration comes from. Also, you will get to experience some completely new and revolutionary battle mechanics - The World Ends With You lets you control simultaneously two characters during battles, choosing from a variety of touch and sound commands to unleash dynamic psychic abilities.

The story begins when the 15 years-old boy Neku Sakuraba getting a phone message which tells him that he only has 7 days to live. It seems that Neku is some kind of Atlas, holding the city on his shoulders, since this means the city will cease to exist, too if he doesn't accept to accomplish certain missions. So, he has to start fighting in order to get everything back on track on the mysterious streets of Shibuya.

The game features a distinct art style created by a team led by Tetsuya Nomura, the renowned character designer of the upcoming Fabula Nova Crystallis (Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII), which means that you'll get to enjoy some really cool visuals. Also, using the stylus, you'll control two characters at a time, unleashing special attacks.

Your characters are fully customizable, either by collecting pins that offer you different and powerful abilities or by shopping for the coolest clothes which can be later traded with friends using the game's Mingle Mode. But you'll get to experience all these and many more after purchasing your original copy of The World Ends With You.
