This week, developer Second Gear announced an update to its event and task management application for Mac OS X. Today 1.1 brings with it the ability to filter what calendars you want to appear in Today, but also a location field to the New Event sheet. More improvements are, of course, in order. Today 1.1 is a free update to registered users, while a 7-day trial version is available right HERE.

Basically, Today is an application specifically created to make it easier for
Leopard users to see all their events and tasks stored in Apple's iCal, using a smaller, and easier to browse user interface. The program employs different colors the users themselves define in iCal, in order to make a better picture of their schedule. Today not only helps you see what's ahead, but also allows you to look back on your schedule and see exactly what you did or had to do on a specific date, much more easily.

You don't have to give up on iCal, though. Running a few tests ourselves, we've realized that you can use the two in parallel, thanks to Today's feature that enables users to select what calendars they want to appear in Today. As such, you can set Second Gear's utility to give you a perspective on just the days and events you consider most important to you.

Creating events and tasks "within" Today is also a breeze, while the app can even "inherit" events created on your iPod touch or iPhone. When you synchronize your device, Today detects the events that have changed immediately. Also, if you're using more than one Mac, Today's calendar data synchronizes seamlessly with Apple's .Mac Web service, Second Gear says.

Today 1.1 is a free update to registered users. A new license costs 15 $ to buy.
