Fans of Spider-Man who ever wondered how Tobey Maguire felt about Sony choosing Andrew Garfield for the upcoming “Spider-Man” reboot, now have an answer. The latest issue of V Man brings an interview with the two.

They didn't just sit down for a talk either – Tobey was the one who interviewed Andrew. At the same time, he also opened up about his feelings on the reboot and why he thinks it's a great idea.

In his turn, Andrew was candid about the grueling casting process and the pressure he's been under ever since, because he wants to do justice to the character and make fans happy, even those who still think “The Amazing Spider-Man” will tank.

As he pointed on several previous occasions, Andrew takes his role as Peter Parker very seriously. Having grown up with the character, he wants to make Peter and Spidey into the hero he dreamed of when he was a teen.

“I just feel such a great responsibility to the story and to the fans, because I know in my heart how much this character means to people, because it means that much to me,” Andrew tells Tobey of the huge sense of responsibility he feels towards the project.

“For the sake of all the people who care about it as much as I do – I want to bring the character to life and make sure they’re as satisfied as they can possibly be,” he says.

He may have his doubts about how people will react to his take on Spidey, but Tobey has complete faith in the project, which is perhaps the best kind of endorsement the film could ever receive.

“Actually, when [the film] was coming together, I was particularly excited at two moments: one was when [director] Marc Webb got involved. I think he’s an interesting and cool choice,” he tells Andrew.

“And then I was certainly curious as to who was going to play Peter Parker. When I heard it was you, I was literally like, [expletive]-ing perfect! I just want it to be great, and I thought, What a great actor Andrew is, I’m glad that’s what’s happening here,” Maguire adds.

“The Amazing Spider-Man” also stars Emma Stone, Denis Leary and Rhys Ifans and will be out in 3D on July 3.
