14 DAY TRIAL // Usually, when people see a new device, they gain a fairly decent idea of what's good and what's bad about it, but every once in a while, they may stumble upon something that makes one go temporarily insensate from the revelation, like now.
Well, maybe that's a bit too dramatic. We do, after all, still retain enough senses to write about it. And by it, we mean the Sinister game controller from Tivitas.
You can see why someone would react by showing something resembling shock just from the picture alone.
Tivitas Interactive built the new product based on Flux Elements, meaning that the controller parts are modular, allowing you to switch out pieces or move them around, depending on the type of game you're playing.
The shape can also be adjusted, from flat to arched. The joystick can even be moved depending on how long your thumb is.
Add to that haptic feedback (with good control over vibration) and you have a winning combination. That or something so complicated that you'll probably be left reeling instead of eager to start playing.
Tivitas wanted to give the Sinister the ability to emulate the look and feel of a keyboard and mouse, for those who don't like using game controllers.
And there are plenty such people, most notably those accustomed to playing PC games, but not console titles.
Thus, instead of holding the Sinister in your hands, you put it on your desk, and plug the mouse into it if you so wish, although it won't let you use the item as a mouse if you do. Instead, the mouse becomes a second joystick, in a sense.
Finally, both analog and d-pad control is included, the former for games where the WASD control is most optimal. Analog should help in racing games and other titles that determine speed by how much pressure you place on the sticks.
