Gamers will have new options both as pilots and Titans

The development team at Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts are ready to unveil the third full map that will be included in the new IMC Rising downloadable content for Titanfall, which is called Sand Trap and is centered on a huge bunker.

The company explains in an official blog post that the design of the new environment is based on the lessons that the team learned while they played the original maps launched with the shooter and that they tried to twist some of the core ideas they had.

Chris Dionne, aka Soupy, states that “One of my main goals with Sand Trap was to use old ideas in new ways. In the center is a buried bunker inspired by the buried architecture in Fracture; this lets Titans stomp around above while pilots scurry below. Across the map are deep trenches that create a well-run highway for pilots; inspired by wall running in Rise they give quick and (relatively) safe routes across the map.”

The surface of Sand Trap is relatively free of structures, which means that the long open sight lines allow Titans to engage at range and individual skirmishes can develop into massive battles.

At the same time, pilots will have to be careful while they move across the protected trench network because there are sections with an open bottom which can cause them to easily drown in unrefined fuel.

The way the new IMC Rising map is designed also makes the game modes feel new and interesting.

Dionne adds, “In Last Titan Standing, the battle often plays out over the dunes and is reminiscent of a classic tank fight from hill to hill. In Capture the Flag, a long central trench crosses the map from one flag building to the other, offering relative safety (except for the central room which is perfect for an ambush…).”

IMC Rising is coming soon

The new DLC pack does not yet have an official launch date, but it will probably be out before the end of October on the Xbox One, the 360 and the PC, although the dates for the different platforms will vary.

On September 23, the team at Respawn Entertainment will show off all the maps included in IMC Rising via a Twitch stream, giving fans of the shooter a chance to see how they look as pilots and Titans do battle.

This is the third and final DLC pack covered by the Season Pass that was launched alongside the title.
