Developer Respawn has announced that Titanfall's second map pack, titled Frontier's Edge, will be released on the Xbox One and PC next Thursday, July 31, and later on the Xbox 360.

Titanfall is set in a distant and war-torn science fiction setting, and follows the conflict between the Militia and the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation.

Frontier's Edge includes three brand-new maps, titled Dig Site, Haven and Export, and is set to coincide with the launch of Game Update 5, the latest major patch that will introduce the new Black Market feature, where players will be able to purchase various insignias, boosts and Burn Cards.

The reveal comes from the game's official Twitter channel, advising players to clear their schedule on July 31.

The upcoming Game Update 5 is a free patch that everyone will get, and its biggest addition, the Black Market, is an in-game store where players will be able to purchase various in-game items and boosts, using in-game currency. The developer has assured its fans that credits can't be purchased with real-world money, and that they don't intend to add microtransactions to the game.

Other things that are included in the patch are multi-GPU support on the PC platform, a notification for when a flag carrier jumps aboard your Titan, as well as various bug fixes and performance tweaks.

The three new maps are an isolated outpost called Dig Site, an exclusivist beach resort called Haven, and a major mining hub situated atop a mountain, named Export.

The developer has showed off the immense scale of the Dig Site map, with gigantic industrial platforms making the Titans and Pilots look like ants.

The Export map features a massive armature that allows players to get a speed and height advantage on their opponents, attacking them from rooftops and using chokepoints to control sections of the mining town.

In Haven, Pilots will use the verticality of the hotel walls to gain high ground, or will exploit the luxurious interiors of the buildings to discretely infiltrate enemy lines.

Frontier's Edge is landing on the Xbox One and PC on July 31, but Xbox 360 owners will have to wait a bit longer for the update to drop. As usual, the Xbox 360 content is being handled by Bluepoint, rather than Respawn, and thus the final version has to be fully functional before it can be ported over.

In the case of the Expedition map pack, the transition took about a month, so it's likely that Frontier's Edge will share a similar fate and become available on Microsoft's last-gen computer entertainment system at the end of August.
