The development team at Respawn Entertainment and publisher Electronic Arts announce that the Frontier Defense cooperative mode for Titanfall is now live for all players of the shooter and offer a little more details and backstory for the experience, focused on the reasons why gamers are banding together in order to take out waves of Artificial Intelligence-controlled enemies.

The official site states, "The IMC have been crippled and the Frontier belongs to us, if we can hold it. The Militia needs your help, Pilots. Fuel is life on the Frontier, and as such we’ve deployed fuel harvesters in strategic locations throughout the system. Your primary goal: defend these harvesters!"

Gamers who run the new mode will be able to face a variety of enemies, with the initial waves made up of rather poorly armed grunts, which tend to then evolve into Specters, and as the experience progresses, more Titans will make an appearance.

The most powerful unit that players will have in Frontier Defense are the Arc Titans, with Respawn adding, "These Stryders are electrified, so melee combat and rodeo attacks are out of the question if you want to stay alive. Their Arc Field will drop shields immediately on nearby Titans and the Harvester, so engage from a distance and drop them fast."

In order to better face the threat, players can deploy turrets in order to stop some enemies and they also have the option to swap their equipment via a set of crates.

Titanfall needs to compete with the fall shooter line-up

Gamers will soon be able to get access to a variety of shooter experiences, ranging from Sunset Overdrive to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and the launch of the new mode and the accompanying major update 8 is a way for Titanfall to once again catch the attention of the fans and compete with the newer titles.

Respawn Entertainment says that it is continuing to listen to the community and wants to know how it can further refine the core mechanics and what bugs need to be fixed.

A new mode will be introduced on November 5 and the studio might have plans for some more downloadable content for the shooter, including more maps.

Rumors are also suggesting that a team is already working on a full sequel for Titanfall, which is supposed to be launched late in 2015 and might be launched on the PlayStation 4 in addition to the Xbox One.
