The modes weren't popular and new ones are coming soon enough

Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that it's taken the decision to eliminate the Capture the Flag and Pilot Hunter modes from Titanfall on the PC platform, reasoning its decision on the fact that the game types weren't popular and those who did want to play had to endure long waits for a match.

Titanfall launched last March for PC and Xbox One and surfaced on the Xbox 360 in April, bringing forth a multiplayer-only first-person shooter experience.

Given the fact that it had no actual single-player campaign, albeit it did have some plot-filled matches, Respawn Entertainment worked hard to deliver lots of gameplay modes and maps for players.

Now, however, it's taken the decision to remove two of the five modes from the PC edition of the game, in the form of Capture the Flag and Pilot Hunter.

Respawn has explained on its blog just why it did this and noted that most PC users were enjoying Attrition and Hardpoint Domination.

"We have an amazing and large PC audience with the vast majority of users predominantly playing Attrition and Hardpoints game modes. CTF and Pilot Hunter have not been widely used modes on the PC version. Players trying to access these modes had overlong wait times to find other users and it was making for a poor experience."

The studio emphasizes that it wants to have popular experiences in Titanfall and that it's examining ways of introducing new game types.

"We want to make sure that not only is there compelling content in the playlists we offer, but that the experience of joining a match works well. We’re tracking what playlists players are choosing, and we’re going to continue to look at unpopular playlists and add new ones on both platforms."

What's more, it once again highlighted that new modes and updates are coming to Titanfall and that Pilot Hunter and Capture the Flag will appear in future playlists that will be available only a limited time.

"We're currently working on those new modes and updates and can't wait to share the details with you. We will still rotate Pilot Hunter and CTF in for future playlists as well as adding new riffs on game types that Respawn is currently working on."

"Our goal is to have a wide variety of playlists that are popular and changing. That said, we will not remove modes from Private Matches, so there will always be the option to select them for competitive and personal play. Thanks for your understanding as we try to make Titanfall a better experience for everyone."

As such, at least for now, Titanfall on PC has just Attrition, Hardpoint Domination, and Last Titan Standing. CTF and Pilot Hunter are still available on Xbox One and Xbox 360.
