Angel Gate will also ask players to play Attrition

Drew McCoy, one of the producers working on Titanfall, says that each map that will ship with the first-person shooter is designed with its own multiplayer mode in mind, giving players a variety of experiences.

He tells the Official Xbox Magazine that, “Each campaign level has its own game mode – it’s not like you’ll play Attrition, then another time you’ll play a different mode. In the campaign, Angel City is Attrition. That’s the story for that level.”

Objectives and the general experience also differ based on the chosen team, as the militia will have to extract a VIP as he escapes, while the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation needs to eliminate all defenders.

McCoy adds, “When you first start the game you will play campaign multiplayer, which takes the bits and pieces you’re used to having in single-player, like a story and characters, and big moments that contextualise what you’re doing – we’re putting that into multiplayer.”

McCoy has not offered any details about how the various maps can be used when non-campaign multiplayer is engaged and players are trying to tweak the experience.

Respawn Entertainment has previously said that it wants Titanfall to deliver a consistent experience, based on vertical movement and careful tactical interplay between the on-foot soldiers and those who pilot a mech.

This might mean that there will be limited customization options for those who want to modify game setting or modes on their own.

But such a decision might drive away some players in the long term.

The game will be a direct competitor for both Call of Duty: Ghosts, from Infinity Ward and Activision, and Battlefield 4, from DICE and Electronic Arts.

Titanfall will be launched on March 11 in North America and on March 13 in Europe and can be played on the Xbox One, the 360 and the PC.
