The new map features simple rooftops and underground tunnels

Respawn Entertainment has revealed quite a lot of details and screenshots from the Zone 18 map, which is included in the upcoming IMC Rising downloadable expansion for Titanfall.

Titanfall rolled out this spring and developer Respawn Entertainment impressed quite a lot of people across the PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 platforms around the world by delivering a stellar multiplayer-only shooter experience that was both fast-paced and quite tactical.

Since then, the game has received different free updates that brought new features, as well as paid expansions that included new maps for players to enjoy.

IMC Rising's Zone 18 is complex map

For the third and final add-on for Titanfall, Respawn is preparing IMC Rising, which contains three different maps centered around the IMC faction inside the game. Already one of the maps was detailed, in the form of Backwater, and now the second one, Zone 18, has just received a lengthy presentation from Respawn's Geoff Smith on the official website.

Zone 18 was initially designed as a level where Respawn's staff could try out the Last Titan Standing mode, as its buildings were low and its layout was mirrored to ensure an easy balance to the battlefield.

However, for its actual release, Smith and his team went to work by shrinking the battlefield, so that pilots can actually go through it on foot, and also by adding new underground tunnels that make traversing the map safer in case titans are roaming on the ground and snipers are camping on the rooftops.

"Zone 18 is a fast paced environment with two main sections divided by a central supply path. While many Pilots will seek the protection of the facility's interior passages, others will take advantage of the long sight lines provided by the limited rooftop cover," Smith revealed.

Those who play Zone 18 in the Hardpoin mode will see that the capture points are laid out in a line and are all connected via underground hallways, so expect some intense close quarters combat.

Lots of practice is necessary to master Zone 18

Smith also emphasizes that players will have to put in some practice if they want to ensure that they can dominate their foes on Zone 18, as the map lends itself well to many play styles, both as a pilot and as a titan.

"Zone 18 is roughly broken into two equal sides divided by a central path. This main path has a few alleyways cutting off it which are great for Titans to escape engagements very quickly and provide pilots with fast wall runs across the map."

"Zone 18 is a fast-paced map that can be overwhelming for pilots who decide to venture onto the rooftops. With minimal cover on the tops of buildings, the underground paths are a better choice, assuming the goal is to stay alive."

Titanfall is set to receive its IMC Rising expansion in the near future, first for PC and Xbox One, and afterwards for the Xbox 360.
