Respawn Entertainment has confirmed that it's going to release a major new feature for Titanfall, its multiplayer shooter, in the form of a Black Market where players can spend in-game credits on new Titan insignias, burn cards, and more, but they can't be purchased via microtransactions.

Titanfall came out earlier this year and amazed quite a lot of gamers across the PC, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 platforms with an intense multiplayer shooter action that emphasized parkour moves and giant hulking Titans.

Since then, developer Respawn has released several free updates that added new features like extra customization options, as well as a major expansion called Expedition.

While it's currently working on another DLC pack called Frontier's Edge, Respawn has confirmed on its website that it will soon introduce a fresh free feature to Titanfall, called Black Market.

Through this new option, players can spend in-game credits and get new items such as fresh Titan insignias to decorate their mech, but also assorted burn card packs that come in different flavors and bring forth a variety of advantages.

"The Black Market introduces a set of Titan Insignias that are themed as the official insignias of elite units on both the IMC and Militia. Once you unlock them in the Black Market, they will be available with the rest of your Titan Insignias in the Titan Custom Loadout screens," Respawn says.

"Burn Card Packs contain a random Burn Cards each focused on a specific theme. They let you choose the type of Burn Cards you like to use. Need an XP boost? Buy the Time Boost Pack. Just need a few cards for the next match? Grab a Standard Pack which can contain any card in the game."

According to Respawn, this new option should provide players with cards they use more often rather than ones that they don't enjoy spending.

Credits in Titanfall can be earned for completing and winning matches, as well as by playing daily, selling earned burn cards, and more.

One thing that Respawn made clear is that credits or Black Market items can't be bought using microtransactions.

"With the introduction of an in-game currency, some may worry that the next step is that we will let players spend real-world money to get an edge in the game. We have stated several times that Titanfall will not have micro-transactions. Fear not, for we plan to keep that promise - no microtransactions! The only way to get Credits is by playing the game," the studio emphasizes.

As of yet, it's unclear when the Black Market is going live in Titanfall, so expect to hear more soon enough.
