The team at Respawn Entertainment working on Titanfall says that gamers used to traditional multiplayer experience will benefit from the new story-driven levels because they add a new type of excitement to matches.

Fairfax McCandlish, a designer working on the game, tells Edge that a clear story means that each battle leads to a clear epic climax, when both teams still have a shot at victory.

The pilots and Titans controlled by the Artificial Intelligence can also be used to steer players towards a clear narrative path.

Titanfall is a shooter that mixes on-foot sequences with moments when the player controls huge mechs.

The core structure combines social elements with traditional FPS mechanics and will give players options to develop their character both in terms of skills and appearance.

Launch is set for 2014 on the PC, the Xbox One and the 360.
