Blizzard is one of the most secretive companies in the video game business, offering the minimum amount of information about its big projects before the official reveals and refusing to commit to launch dates before they are sure about the quality of their titles.

And the fact that Blizzard is talking about its new MMO project called Titan suggests that an official reveal might come soon.

Speaking about the future for Blizzard, Paul Sams, the chief operations officer, stated to Gamasutra, “We think that that will be, after Diablo III, the next big thing from us. The thing that we hope will happen is that it will not stop World of Warcraft but we believe will eclipse it.”

The fact that Titan will not in any way compete with World of Warcraft, which currently leads the subscription-based MMO market, is one of the facts that Blizzard has been keen to underline, probably in part to eliminate any fears on the part of investors.

An official announcement about Titan might come at this year's E3.

Paul Sams offered more tangential details about Titan, saying, “I believe the most ambitious thing we’ve ever attempted. And I feel like we have set our company up to succeed on that. We have some of our most talented and most experienced developers on that team. Many of the people that built World of Warcraft are full time on that other team.”

When Sams is talking about the next big thing, he probably refers to the importance of the project and not to the real-world launch time line.

In 2012 Blizzard is widely expected to finally put out Diablo III, the next game in the very successful hack and slash franchise, but fans are also expecting to witness the launch of the new game in the Starcraft II line up, Heart of the Swarm.
