Zone Alarm is one of the most well known security companies on the internet because it developed an application that is currently very popular. Zone Alarm was initially only a firewall solution that was meant to protect your computer of attackers and other malicious files, giving you the possibility to control the applications that require an internet connection.

After the application was updated several times, Zone Alarm now offers parental control to limit the access to your computer, e-mail and identity protection. Besidse the Zone Alarm firewall, the company also designed a security suite, Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite, that contains several tools meant to protect your computer in both online and offline modes: antivirus, firewall, privacy protection and website filtering.

If you ever tested Zone Alarm, you surely observed that the application is requiring a high level of resource so - on a slower computer - it's impossible to run the program while you are working on something else. Because the security solution contains so many additional tools, some of them can be disabled to increase the performance of your computer.

Sankar Anand, a popular blogger, posted some tips that can help you make your Zone Alarm application run smoother and get better results from your system.

"Go to Email Protection, if you use external email client like outlook express etc then it is recommend to turn it on other wise turn off the radio buttons of the Inbound mail safe protection, outbound mail safe protection and Junk email. Go to Parental Control, unless your system is not used by any kid you can turn off Parental control.

Go to Identity Protection and move the slider to Med. Generally you don't need to give that importance for your identity but its best recommended to be at middle level.

Now Go to Firewall and in the Internet Zone Security, move the slider to Med from High, you don't want to be in stealth because you are not that important to be traced and also do the same for Trusted Zone Security," he said.
