Musikmesse and the new small Orange amps

Orange is a rather nice color or at least I think it is. When this orange color is all over on your guitar amplifier and/or cabinet it may be not that pretty unless they actually ARE Orange. And believe me, if they are orange then things are completely different.

This short piece of news just wants to let you know that all-tube amps have just gotten smaller, thanks to UK manufacturer Orange. The new amp showcased and demoed at the Musikmesse (where else?) is one hell of an amp: the handbag-sized, all-tube guitar head - Tiny Terror.

Now stop laughing at the rather funny name and start thinking about what it is like and what it does: it will blast 15W of harmonics-rich tube-amped audio in any cabinet (you can even take a 412, if you like) thus being able to cover your back at a rehearsal or even a small club show (blues and the likes... if you play tough metal 15W don't even exist).

One cool use for the Tiny Terror is the studio sessions: Orange have managed to compress all their classic tone yet keep the dynamics intact in this "all-tube handbag": forget about the digital clipping and concentrate only on this state of the art Class A tube amp - it can run in half power-mode at a max. of 7W so you can dial in your desired tone without already torturing your ears.

The Tiny Terror is by far the most portable all-tube amp of all as it weighs few pounds and it can go virtually anywhere, it may very easily be at least the backup amp for the traveling musician or the "sweet child o'mine" for the lonely musicians.

Inside the small, beautifully painted metal housing, there are two 12AX7 preamp valves which send their rich signal to warm through two EL84 tubes for the final amping stage. The metal around is 1.5mm Zintec chassis with steel vented top and everything comes in a padded bag. The Tiny Orange Terror also sports three rotary pots controlling Volume, Gain and Tone parameters, place on the front panel, right next to the ON/Standby/OFF switch, the 7W/15W switch and the classic and classy red operation-indicator light.
